Back to the future for two-way radio

Local councils often have a number of departments which benefit from the use of two way radio communication such as, traffic wardens, street and park wardens and car park attendants.

With multiple users requiring technology for a range of uses indoors and outdoors, providing an effective communication network in what can be very demanding environments is extremely complex. With groups or large numbers of employees needing to communicate simultaneously over a wide area, often in high noise environments with inclement weather conditions, the logistics of installing and running a successful two way radio system with 100% site coverage can prove very difficult.

Brentwood Communications’ 35 years of experience in such environments has allowed us to develop and maintain effective two way radio systems which can deliver the necessary clarity whilst retaining full site coverage using the most up to date technology available. Even In circumstances where employees have use of a vehicle, mobile radio communication is still possible with the use of Motorola’s DR3400/DR3401 and, where requred, radios can also be supplied with state of the art encryption technology to allow for complete protection from casual eavesdropping.

Different uses by local councils

These organisations require two way radio communications for a number of applications, such as:

  • Indoor and Outdoor events
  • Health and Safety

Digital vs Analogue

Advances in digital technology now means it is possible to speak to individual users or groups of users at the touch of a button. In addition to this, digital two way radios are equipped with a lone worker function – this means that individual staff can be monitored, regardless of their location on site. With the safety of staff and the public a priority, digital radios can also utilise GPS to pinpoint the exact location of staff – a critical feature in the event of an emergency.

We also provide a range of headsets, ear pieces, carry cases and waterproof radio cases to compliment our full range of radios.

We would always recommend that when installing new two way radio communication systems that a trial period is undertaken with a fully functional system so that you have complete piece of mind that all your requirements are fully met before you commit to your purchase.

The most popular radios being used by local councils are listed below (click the links to view the features and benefits of each).
