Aspers Casino Go Digital
Super Casino Aspers in Westfield, Stratford have just upgraded to digital two way radios. At 65,000 sq ft, the complex in East London hosts 40 roulette and blackjack tables, 92 gaming terminals, a 150-seat poker room, a restaurant, two bars and 150 slot machines, chiming and flashing hypnotically 24 hours a day.
The challenge for Brentwood Communications was to install a two way radio system that provided full coverage across the whole site. It was very important that staff could contact each other at the touch of a button and communications were audible in a noisy environment. Management wanted the ability to contact individual users for private conversations and to limit the chances of eavesdropping. The requirements meant that two way digital radios were the only option.
Following a site test of various technologies the Brentwood engineers discovered back to back radios were not sufficient to achieve full coverage. A repeater was needed which would mean coverage would be possible across the whole site. Locations for the antenna system were identified and another site test provided 100% coverage, even in the extremities of the venue, where previously communication had not been possible.
We provided 40 Motorola Digital DP3400 radios and 1 Motorola Digital DM3600 desk top radio. The desk top radio enabled private calling which was an important requirement. A Motorola DR3000 digital repeater was used to provide the extra boost needed for total coverage. Finally, as digital radios are encrypted the chances of eavesdropping is greatly reduced so management could be confident of secure conversations.
The installation project was completed on time and to budget and the Casino management were delighted with their new radios.
